On May 20, 2014, at the annual Resource Parent Appreciation Dinner the Pathways, Inc. Therapeutic Foster Care Program awarded The Nichols Award, also known as the Resource Parent of the Year Award, to Dave (posthumously) and Laurel Studley of Almond, NY. The Nichols Award honors a Resource Parent/Family for going above and beyond in working with children and families. Mr. and Mrs. Studley provided nurturance, guidance, and compassion to youths and families. Sadly, Mr. Studley passed away in March 2014 after a long illness, but his compassion lives on in the youths he helped and through his wife’s continued fostering.
The Pathways, Inc. Therapeutic Foster Care Program is a community-based and family-centered program serving foster youth who have serious emotional, social, and behavioral issues or developmental disabilities in need of a therapeutic out-of-home placement. Resource Parents (certified foster parents) trained in mental health and developmental topics provide foster care to youths. Therapeutic Foster Care staff provide services to youths, siblings, and families in order to achieve permanency goals. If you are interested in becoming a Pathways, Inc.
