Sign-on Bonus for Eligible OMH Community Residence Positions
Full time positions are now eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus, $500 every 3 months for one year. Part time positions are now eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus, $250 every 3 months for one year. New hires, rehires, and transfers are eligible for this sign-on bonus. (ELIGIBLE POSITIONS: Supervising Senior Counselor, Senior Counselor, Counselor, Senior Counselor/Family Support Specialist, Recreation Specialist)

Nature of Work:
A Senior Counselor is a compassionate and patient human services professional who has a drive and passion for the mental health field.  They conduct themselves with a high level of professionalism and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  As a Senior Counselor, you will be an integral member of the team by your direct involvement in the development of individualized service plans for the children and youth diagnosed with serious emotional disturbance that are enrolled in the program.  You will also plan, implement and document direct services provided to the youth and family in an effort to improve their functioning, quality of life and support reunification.   Senior Counselors employ strengths-based, trauma-informed practices as they support youth, families and model for other direct-care staff-people.  This position offers flexible scheduling, competitive pay, benefits and opportunities for training and advancement for qualified and skilled employees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services required. 
  • Requires a valid driver's license that meets insurability guidelines to operate Agency-owned vehicles.
  • Must meet the requirements of the School Age Care, Day Care, and/or Mental Health Regulations regarding a State Central Register Clearance regarding history of abuse/maltreatment of children and Criminal History Review for criminal convictions.
